First, Personal explanatory, Blog

1.) Hello Everybody in English 263, I am Kevin Kozlowski. I am 19 years old and I am going for a major in Education, more specifically, I am attempting to graduate so I can be an English teacher, a High-School English teacher. Three interesting facts about myself, I would say at least, are; I began commuting this semester but lived in my own house with 8 of my good friends on campus my first three prior semesters at UWM, I have three dogs, a chocolate lab, a Great Dane and a Mastiff( the kind of dog from sandlot for those who are not sure what breed of dog that is), and Immensly interested into Rap music, more than just listening to it but I love debating about it and persuading those who view the music genre to be inappropriate or having a negative impact on society, etc.

2.) I did sign up for the class because it fulfills a GER requirement but on top of that, I enrolled in this class because I am more interested in the writing formation of a novel than I am poetry and other things like that. THis is so because, I enjoy when there is a lot more information and details around a plot that can give you time and more information to help you analyze what the author is trying to get across, it is more flexible in other words.

3.) I am not happy to admit it but I rarely ever read, let a lone entire novels, and I am not sure if it is exactly a novel, more of an auto-biography and I do not know if that qualifies as a novel, but my favorite book I have read is titled, "The Last Season," by Phil Jackson. It is the book written by the NBA Basketball L.A. Laker's Head Coach about the last season he coached for the team back in the early 2000's which was actually written before he came back to coach for L.A. in for his second stint there a few seasons ago. I am typically drawn to books like the one I just explained, biographies or auto-biographies, usually revolved around sports, because I love sports and I find it enjoyable to read about and view someone from their own perspective, or, I feel that a lot of people in this world have a lot to talk about, about their lives and the events that have occured in them and not a lot get the opportunity to share it at large, and being able to read somebody's live occurences from their own viewpoint is extremely interesting.

4.) Throughout my first three semesters at UWM I have taken, I believe, six different english courses which consisted of learning about different time periods in english history, different types of literature, a creative writing course which was my favorite, and so on. I think this class will differ from the other english classes I have been in because obviously, it is online, and all of my other classes have been physical, in class, courses. Also, I think this class will be different because the other english courses I have been enrolled in never specifically focused on a specific culture's english literature.

5.) I do not know remotely anything about Irish literature. I believe that I will be able to bring some useful information to this class about english literature as a whole because of all the previous english classes I have been a part of, basically, a different point of view amongst different topics.

6.) I am an advid "Facebooker," so yes, I do own my own facebook account and I have several E-mail accounts set up, and that is about it, but I have been communicating with all different types/groups of people using the internet for years now and am pretty confindent in my abilities to write on blogs using this website correctly/often with my expierence.

7.)

This is a good, general, overall picture of the town Hayward, Wisconsin. This is a town far upnorth in Wisconsin that I visit every single summer. I love this place because to me, it portrays the meaning of peaceful, there is very little that can distract you here (I mean objects that are considered technology, like computers, TV, and etc) and it gives you a lot of time to clear your head and think about the more important things happenining presently in your life. It gives you the perfect tools to clear your head and relax.

I like this site very much because it is a great "time eater" if you are ever extremely bored and find yourself with nothing to do. Also, it allows me to keep in touch with so many friends, family, and sometimes, even people I am not that fond of (which I am not sure why I would ever want to do?). With this site I can talk to old friends I haven't seen in ages, I can keep in touch with my sister that I am extremely close to who recently moved away to scottland and I will very little be able to see.

9.)
I like this video because I am a HUGE fan of the NBA player, LeBron James and it also advertises the documentary-movie including him that came out earlier this year called "More Than A Game," which I am also I huge fan of because it displays his teammates and his live's and what they went through, throughout their entire senior year on the way to winning the National Basketball Championship.

  1. Welcome to the class! After seeing your picture of Hayward, WI I had to comment you. My mother's side of the family is from Hayward and my grandparents, as well as 3 sets of aunts/uncles/cousins still call it home. I also have an aunt and uncle in Phillips. Are you familiar? I'm a person who lives for family traditions and we travel the almost 6 hour drive to Hayward every Christmas.I go to mass with my grandma every Christmas eve and then we go sledding Christmas morning.

Aside from visiting with my family, I love watching the log-rolling competitions during the summer as well as picking up chocolate from Trembalay's Sweets Downtown. Have you been? Amazing fudge!
I'm curious about your desire to be a high school English teacher. I have a personal belief that people born to teach are saints. A good deal of my friends have become English and/or Special Education teachers and I never understood the calling. History and Art I get! :)

What's it like owning 3 dogs? I myself treat animals the way most people treat children. They're fun to play with for a while, but I'm glad to give them back. Although, if my kids every desired owning a pet I suppose I would be ok with owning a pug (so cute!)

I am just now getting into sports. I was a varsity swimmer and diver in high school but never understood the rules of contact sports. Like an Milwaukeean I love the Brewers and attend a few games every season. If there were one sport I feel connected to and remotely/genuinely interested in, I guess that would be hockey. And, I consider myself a football fan by proxy (you can thank my husband for that). Would you say basketball is your game? And are you only a spectator or play as well?
Again, welcome to the class. Looking forward to reading your future blogs...
